Glass Engraving

What is glass engraving?

Glass engraving is the cutting of the surface of glass to produce a design.


Glass engraving is similar to glass etching. The difference is the surface of the glass is cut (engraved) with a cutting tool.

Tools used for glass engraving include:

1. Lathes. These use machine-driven wheels to shape the cut, and a mixture of oil and abrasive to do the cutting

2. Hand held high speed drills (such as a Dremel) using tungsten or diamond rotary burrs

3. Lasers
